PWD Back Printing Explained
Our customers often ask how back printing works on PWD prints. Here’s a simple explanation for understanding what that stuff on the back of your prints means and how to customize it for yourself.

Custom back printing now available in PWD ROES
We’ve added another great feature to PWD ROES: custom back printing! Now you can enter a message to be printed on the back of all your prints. You might add a copyright message or include your website address so anyone who sees your prints knows where to find you.
To setup custom back printing, open PWD ROES and click the My Info button. Next, enter your message into the last field of the window that pops up (shown below).

You need only set your back print message once, though you’re free to update it at any time.
One thing to watch out for: The system currently can handle only a limited set of characters. To ensure your message prints as desired, be sure to limit it to letters, numbers and periods. Anything else — including parentheses, ampersands, slashes, etc. — will not print correctly. Also, there is a forty character limit, so don’t try writing any novels on the back of your prints!
PWD ROES Tip: Neatly Arranged ROES
There are a number of ways to get around PWD ROES and setup its various windows, but we at PWD recommend one particular setup that will place everything within easy reach. Here it is:

As you can see above, we like a big, main window with our Sizes and Options palettes easily accessible but out of the way. The central (vertical) divider bar in the main window can be dragged left or right depending on whether you want to see more images in your folder or you want more room to setup a product template.
If the Sizes and Options palettes are new to you, you’ve probably been accessing all our catalogs, products, and options via the Sizes and Options buttons located in the main window. That certainly works, but we think it’s easier to keep them open as windows for easier, quicker navigation. If they’re not currently open on your screen, you can get at the palettes by clicking on the Sizes and Options buttons and then choosing to show the palette.

PWD ROES Tip: Zoom In
Have you ever had trouble reading the text on a photo card you were creating in PWD ROES? Perhaps you couldn’t quite see what was going on in the smaller photo nodes of one of your proof books? Worry not, for there’s a quick and simple solution: just zoom in!
To zoom in on any text or image node (a node is a space where you drop images or edit text), simply double-click on that node. The product will zoom in and center on the node you double-clicked. To zoom back out, simply double-click again.

PWD ROES Tip: Previewing Your Order
Here’s a quick PWD ROES tip to make sure your order is just how you want it before sending it off.
Before completing your order, we always recommend clicking the Preview Order button (shown below). This will open up a preview in your web browser and let you see exactly what you’re sending off. Here are some things to look for:
- Did you get the right sizes and options?
- Are all your images there? It can be easy to accidentally leave some out when setting up a large order.
- Are your images in the sequence you want them? At the lab, we print them in the same sequence they are displayed in your preview.

Though we can often make changes after receiving the order (assuming we haven’t already gone to print), it is easier on everyone to make sure the order is correct the first time. Using the PWD ROES order preview feature will ensure you get exactly what you expect.
